MASSA NO FOLEY?…CAN PATERSON STAY?

COULD BE MANY MORE MASSA REVELATIONS, SAYS RUSSERT…PALADINO PLEASES ERIE COUNTY GOP…ATTACKS HIGGINS…MCCALL TELLS FOX BUSINESS: “MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE” FOR PATERSON TO STAY

NBC’s Luke Russert, son of the late Meet the Press moderator, Tim, is reporting, along with many others, that there will be more unfavorable revelations coming out re the alleged behavior toward underaged congressional pages of Congressman Eric Massa. Of course, we hope and pray that it’s not true for the sake of the Congressman’s family. While House Democratic Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has compared the potential political damage attendant to Massa’s situation to that of GOP Congressman Tim Foley’s page scandal, (you know the one that drove the Republicans from control of the House in 2006), our sources see a difference between the two situations: Four years ago, the GOP Capital Hill leadership tried to cover up their mess so that Foley could be re-elected. Hopefully, Speaker Pelosi won’t make that mistake.

Moving back to the local scene, we hear that prominent local developer and possible gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino got an excellent receptions at Wednesday evening’s Erie County Republican fundraiser presided over by GOP Chairman Jim Domagalski. The warm response Paladino got made some observers think he could be a viable Republican alternative to his less than charismatic potential primary opponent, you know, what’s his name?

Meanwhile, we also see that Paladino has been circulating an open letter to Congressman Brian Higgins in the form of an e-mail. The gist of the whole thing is that Mr. Paladino would prefer that Higgins not vote in favor of President Obama’s health care reform bill.

Moving on to the mess in Albany, former state Comptroller H. Carl McCall has told the FOX Business Network that it “may not be possible” for Governor Paterson to remain in office. “…We want to be responsible and we think the ultimate issue here is ‘does he have the ability to provide the leadership we need now,” McCall added.

McCall declined to say whether he thinks the Governor perjured himself by telling investigators that he did not use his position as chief executive to get tickets to a Yankees World Series game last year. as the state’s Public Integrity Commission has alleged.

“I’m not a lawyer,” the former Democratic gubernatorial nominee declared. “All that we’ve heard is overwhelming. The good news is that the governor now HAS a lawyer.”
